Director of Lean Mfg - Black Belt Required
Our client is looking for a Director of Lean Manufacturing with a Black Belt. This role will have responsibility for the implementation/deployment/integrity of the Lean Management System for 9 plants.



KEY REQUIREMENTS:
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification required (Master Black Belt certification preferred)
  • Minimum 7 years of Continuous Improvement / Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma experience required
  • Background in TPM highly preferred preferred
  • Manufacturing Plant Management experience highly preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and transforming organizations using Lean Six Sigma principles in manufacturing
  • Extensive experience in teaching and coaching Lean and Six Sigma concepts throughout the organization
  • Implements such tools as: SPC, process capability, pareto analysis, root cause problem solving, fishbone, SMED, DOE, 5S, KPI, SMED, VSM and kaizen events
  • Demonstrated ability to lead Kaizen improvement events.
  • Demonstrated skills in mentoring Black Belts and Green Belts through project completion  
  • Proven ability to work well with all levels of the organization, to identify areas of opportunity and to improve company operations.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, and ability to work in a matrix organization.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and facilitation skills are required along with the ability to provide a high degree of customer sensitivity and attention to detail
  • Travel: about 50% +/- travel will be required.

SOFTWARE: 
  • Proficiency in using widely recognized Lean Six Sigma and/or other statistical packages
  • Experienced in MS Office, including Powerpoint for presentations

EDUCATION:  4 year degree required (Engineering degree highly preferred)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Implement a formal lean manufacturing system that focuses on reducing process and product variation and waste reduction.
  • Serves as the manufacturing sensei to accelerate cultural change.
  • Supports policy deployment activities to define strategic objectives and metrics for the organization
  • Oversees and directs the continuous improvement function to ensure alignment with organizational priorities.
  • Drives measurable improvements in safety, quality, material control, throughput, flexibility, and cost.
  • Drives standardization and structure into performance indicators, from the shop floor through senior management, to identify, prioritize and validate the improvement actions and results using an A3 format.
  • Works with local management teams to develop and implement closed loop management systems that report on and sustain significant process improvements through lean initiatives. Mentor leaders, engineers, and shop floor supervisors to instill the discipline to drive a transition to a lean-thinking enterprise.
  • Conducts root cause analysis to determine metrics, troubleshoot manufacturing/business challenges and to create and maintain process documentation
  • Tracks functional and/or site Process Excellence progress, capability and maturity. Provide guidance and direction to drive continuous improvement.
  • Reports on progress, achievements and associated business results. This includes executive level reporting, management updates and best practice sharing
  • Utilizes Gemba walks with plant management to identify waste and assure plant, department, and shift leadership are following the Lean Management System.
  • Creates an environment where all employees have increased opportunities to contribute to the success of the business and the security of their future through continuous improvement efforts.
