WHAT WILL YOU DO
  • Experience with project management responsibilities for planning, scheduling and organizing project activities.  This includes new capital projects and process improvements.
  • Define project scopes of work in collaboration with cross-functional departments and senior management as required.
  • Develop project budgets, justifications (e.g. ROI, compliance etc.), and draft Capital Expenditure Requests.
  •  Solicit bids from suppliers, contractor, design firms and other service providers 
  • Issue RFPs and negotiate contracts with suppliers
  • Create a detailed work plan/schedule which identifies and sequences the activities needed to successfully complete the project.
  • Determine the resources (time, money, equipment, etc.) required to complete the project
  • Review the project schedule with senior management and all other staff that will be affected by the project activities; revise the schedule as required
  • Ensure that all project personnel receive an appropriate orientation to the organization and the project
  • Execute the project according to the project plan
  • Develop forms and records to document project activities
  • Set up files to ensure that all project information is appropriately documented and secure 
  • Monitor the progress of the project and make adjustments as necessary to ensure the successful completion of the project
  • Establish a communication schedule to update stakeholders including appropriate staff in the organization on the progress of the project
  • Review the quality of the work completed with the project team on a regular basis to ensure that it meets the project standard
  • Routinely update senior management with concise and clear reports on the project status that will include cash flow projections and report actual cash flow and variance, risks, and action plans to keep the project on track
     

WHAT IT TAKES TO BE CONSIDERED
BS Degree in Engineering at a minimum for consideration3-10 yrs industry exp with 1 year acting as project engineer/manager. Experience in a process related industry (corn wet milling, chemical, pulp & paper, food, pharmaceutical) is preferred, and should be familiar with, but not limited to, centrifuges, ion exchange systems, crystallization systems, chromatographic separation, powder handling systems, batch reactors, drying equipment, tanks, process piping, packaging equipment, vessels, heat exchangers, boiler utility systems (steam, compressed air, etc.), mechanical systems including pumps, piping, valves, heat exchangers. 
This position will participate on and/or lead cross-functional teams involving representatives from Operations, Finance, Supply Chain, and Sales. The incumbent will work in close association with the U.S. Operations, Engineering, Production Planning, and Finance departments, as well as the Corporate Engineering group, external Engineering resources, equipment suppliers, and construction firms. The incumbent must have a working knowledge of state and federal building and safety codes, plus understand environmental agency requirements for this or similar industries.
Approximately 10% travel is required primarily in North America and Europe.
