A global supplier of precision instruments with sales and service locations in 39 countries is significantly increasing their engineering staff due to growth and the relocation to a new factory.   The company provides various analytical instruments, process analytics instruments, weighing equipment and end-of-line inspection / vision systems.
The role of an Engineer Mechanical is to ensure our projects and products are designed within budgeted time/material costs, on schedule and to the required customer specifications/MTCIV safety and quality standards. Working closely with Sales, R&D, Product Management, Project Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Supply Chain, Production and Service we will form an operational team that will communicate constantly to ensure the smooth running of the business.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develops manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment for fabricating, building, assembling and installing components
  • Creating 3D parts, assemblies, drawings and bill of materials
  • Maintaining document database
  • Review and approve vendor drawings
  • Designing and implementing cost-effective designs to help improve safety, reliability and throughput
  • Assist production & field engineering personnel to interpret designs
  • Works with other engineers and production personnel not to only develop but also to maintain the manufacturing process
  • Responsible for sustaining engineering support for on-going Root Cause Analyses
  • Solving complex problems with manufacturing departments, suppliers, and customers
  • Ensure that the system is reliable and will perform consistently in specified operating environments
  • Ensure coordination with Sales, R&D, Software, Product Management, Engineering, Supply Chain, Production and Service to satisfy customer requirements
  • Work with production to understand our process capabilities and develop ideas that reduce costs and improve quality
  • Ensure system and products design are in line with Risk Assessment and Safe Mechanical Design guidelines
  • Maintains product and company reputation by complying with government regulations
  • Accurately track and record time spent on projects
  • Adheres to all company policies and procedures
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and priorities
  • Self-starter (can work without supervision)
  • Ability to consistently meet deadlines
  • Drafting skills and design proficient in both Autodesk AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor
  • Microsoft Office proficient
  • Proficient in Product Document Management programs (PDM Inventor Enterprise Vault)
Minimum Education / Experience Required:
  • Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering
  • 3+ years' experience in Mechanical Design
  • Experience in automated machinery design in a manufacturing environment
  • Material Handling design experience
  • Experience in machinery design in a manufacturing environment
  • Familiar in both extruded aluminum and stainless steel construction in Nema12/4/4x & IP52/65
