Plant Engineer, Web-Handling Capital Equipment
SUMMARY:  A great Houston plastics manufacturer is looking for a Mechanical Engineer with experience specifying and designing web-handling equipment, manage capital projects, and improve plant processes through capital equipment update and improvement.  In this position, you will work closely with industry suppliers and will design equipment that isn’t provided by the equipment manufacturers.  WEB HANDLING EQUIPMENT EXPERIENCE as a requirement. 
Mechanical Engineer Responsibilities
  • The Mechanical Engineer’s primary responsibility is to create specifications, design and project management for web-handling capital equipment projects used in their polymer processing facility.This including new projects, retrofit, and machinery improvements.
  • The Mechanical Engineer works with both internal resources and external suppliers to assure that the solution meets the required tolerances, rates and scrap.
  • Create drawings for plant and work center layouts, as well as fixtures and specialty equipment.
  • Participates in product approval process.
  • Manages or participates in continuous improvement activities to improve output, reduce scrap, and improve safety during pre-planning and introductions.
  • The Mechanical Engineer helps create Standard Work Procedures and equipment manuals.
Mechanical Engineer Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States on a permanent basis. Visa sponsorship is not available.
Mechanical Engineer Requirements
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or 10 years of experience designing automated manufacturing equipment.
  • 5 years experience creating specifications for plant and capital equipment; designing and implementing manufacturing equipment, with web-handling equiment/processes as a requirement. 
  • Fantastic capital project management skills on multi-million $ projects.
  • Thorough understanding of how automation components are used and integrated in manufacturing environments. (controls, servos, motors, actuators, sensors, PLC’s, HMI’s, etc.).
  • Design skills with 3-D design software such as Solidworks, PRO-E, or Catia.
