JOB DESCRIPTION:

Improve manufacturing and mining process by providing technical assistance to optimize product quality and minimize cost.   The position will develop, monitor, and analyze process programs from the quarry through loading.  Recommend, develop, and implement operational procedures and equipment improvements to improve quality and/or increase plant productivity.  Provide technical assistance with the investigation and diagnosis of operating and maintenance problems and assist with recommendations of appropriate corrective measures.  Assist the engineering program to administer and control assigned capital and major maintenance projects from conception to timely, cost contained completion.  Assist in short and long range plant asset planning.  

COORDINATE BASIC ACCOUNTABILITY WITH:

Production Supervisors, Loadout Managers, Plant Managers, Technical Services Manager, Maintenance Superintendents, Quarry Supervisors
            
SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • PLANT PROCESSES
    • Assist with troubleshooting process issues.
    • Provide assistance in proper operation of sand dryer.
    • Provide assistance in proper screening operation. 
    • Identify and assist in elimination of plant production bottlenecks.
    • Review production process for proper equipment use, equipment performance and product gradation goals.
    • Constantly review all in process test data and adjust testing frequency and focus as needed coordinated with Technical Services manager
    • Search out new technology for utilization in plant processes.
  • CAPITAL PROJECTS: Provide Project guidance and engineering oversite of 3rd party engineers and contractors on large capital projects which would be strategic in nature (plant expansion, product line addition, greenfield plant construction) 
  • SAFETY: Establish and maintain safe working conditions and procedures, and ensure that all work is performed in a safe manner. Actively participate in, and implement, Company safety and housekeeping program, and ensure that all Federal, State and other regulatory agency safety requirements are met.
  • PLANT AVAILABILITY: Assist with the investigation and diagnosis of plant operating and maintenance issues. Recommend courses of action to the appropriate department head and implement appropriate and approved corrective measures.
  • CAPITAL PLAN: Assist with Plant capital plan development from project conception estimates, conceptual engineering. Insure projects meet company guidelines for investment return.
  • ENERGY: Develop, maintain and assist in monitoring energy reporting and consumption in all Plant areas, investigate and report on any abnormalities and recommend capital appropriations to minimize energy consumption.
  • PLANNING: Play a key roll in development of 1 year plans, capital plans and major maintenance plans. Ensure that all project work is coordinated with the appropriate manufacturing personnel.
  • POLICIES: Implement and enforce all Company policies.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, minerals processing or related.
  • 5+ years process engineering experience within the mining and minerals processing industry.
  • Previous capex project management experience.
  • Available for initial travel amounts of over 40%; travel requirements will lessen to approximately 20% - 40% within approximately one year.
  • A strong focus on safety; will be integral in maintaining safe working conditions and procedures.
  • Strong computer skills with solid experience in Microsoft Office, Project Management software and other related software programs.
