Our client, a dominant factor in the precision instrument manufacturing arena, has asked Sterling St. James, LLP to help them source, screen and qualify candidates for a position as Project Engineer.  The company established almost sixty years ago, is an old line Kansas City firm that is having rapid growth with exciting new products, eager customers and an enthusiastic work force. They are a global leader in the design and manufacture of measurements and control devices including a wide variety of electronic and mechanical instrumentation. This is a primary Technical Engineering position solving customer issues which requires the individual to be involved from beginning to end of the sales process.

Quality is the hallmark of their product line. Their products are field-proven, high performance and durable.  They serve all sectors of the process industry with particular emphasis being in the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Chemical and Nuclear Power segments.

The position of Project Engineer works as the and with peers to schedule work orders in a timely manner to ensure the Company’s and Customer’s objectives are met.

  • Work closely with customers to gather standards and respond to these.
  • Handle request for quotations for unique standard and custom products
  • Review project bid documentation as necessary for the customer quote.
  • Specify appropriate equipment for the application.
  • Define project documentation requirements.
  • Answers technical questions form customers.
  • Process purchase orders received from customers.
  • Work with departments as necessary to quote special products and or fulfill agreed upon documentation requirements.
  • Assist inside sales reps in creating general term agreements.
  • Supports Customer Service Manager to implement policies.
  • Tracks quotations in tracking system.
  • Assist in making sure the opportunities are moving through the sales cycle.
  • All other duties are assigned by manager.
  • AS or BS in a technical field.
  • Understanding of Nuclear industry is a plus.
  • Basic computer skills – must be proficient in MS Office Suite of products
