Our client, a leader in the design and manufacture of specialty building opening systems and equipment has commissioned Sterling St. James, LLC to source, screen and qualify candidates for a key role of R&D Engineer.

  • Design and develop Fenestration systems and components related to building openings.
  • Develop new product lines from cradle to grave including prototyping, risk assessment, pilot production, design reviews, verification and testing, product validation and usability testing and then to pre-production.
  • Assist in Project planning and leading the mechanical design projects
  • Work as a member of a multi cross disciplinary team to create product release requirements, design specifications and design descriptions.
  • Collaborate with product managers, marketing, material suppliers, to understand current and future market needs.
  • Interact with global internal and external design and manufacturing resources to design for manufacturability reliability and cost effectiveness.
Bachelor of Science Mechanical Engineering, BSME or related experience.
  • 4+ years of design and development of manufactured products
  • Experience with design of rolled forming or stamped thin gauge steel, extruded and molded components, and product assemblies are a plus
  • 3D,  Solid works, or AutoCAD Inventor experience  - Rapid prototype design  a plus
  • Initiative, originality, ingenuity

  • MS Office proficiency
  • Excellent communications skills
