Job Description
Supplier Quality Engineer Summary:
The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for assessing potential new suppliers to develop and improve entire supply chain including delivery and quality.  They will be the primary interface with design engineering in the early stages of product introduction and see it through launch.
They will provide expertise for validation, test plans, FMEA guidance, specification call-outs, inspection criteria and reliability requirements, etc. during the new product development stage.
Supplier Quality Engineer Responsibilities:
  • Champion the development and maintenance of Control Plans, PFMEA's and other quality documents as required and assures that associated risks are monitored and actions are defined.
  • Manages the Suppliers APQP process.
  • Reviews suppliers Control Plans, PFMEA's, etc. to ensure proper documentation to set standards and product specifications.
  • Validate PPAP submission from Suppliers.
  • Ensure compliance to all applicable quality Customer-specific systems and requirements.
  • Responsible for Advanced Quality Planning; including prototype build plans, prototype control plans, etc.
  • Ensure Best Practices are followed throughout the process.
  • Ensure initial capability studies are properly performed and documented for initial builds and product changes affecting special characteristics, and that Customer and internal requirements are met.
  • Provide guidance for development and execution of validation and reliability testing requirements.
  • Write, review and approve plans and reports that document the testing activities within the guidelines of the quality system.
  • Responsible for the planning and scheduling for new product launch requirements.
  • Conduct supplier audits to drive process standardization, waste elimination, and continuous improvement.
  • Bachelor’s degree (BS or BA) is required.
  • Must have recent experience with TS16949 Quality Systems in Automotive Industry.
  • Experience in Advanced Quality Planning including strong proficiency with the AIAG Advanced Quality Planning and Control Plan, FMEAs, PPAPs, MSA and Statistical Process Control (SPC) standards.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing methods and processes, including flow, layout, and assembly and production equipment.
  • Exceptional communications skills.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques and manufacturing quality tools.
  • Excellent problem solving skills.
  • Ability to travel multiple locations - up to 30%.
