TOOL PROCESS ENGINEER - 3rd SHIFT
Develops, implements, oversee and maintains the building and/or repair of all types, sizes and shapes of jigs, fixtures, tools and dies on diverse, complex manufacturing equipment.
Works with maintenance on the setup and operation of all types of tools, considering types of material, tolerances, types of tooling, coolant, lubricants and tool feeds and speeds.
Establishes specifications for inspection of work, using precision measuring and gauging tools, performing required inspection before, during and after machining.
Works with maintenance and to the tool and die makers on all shifts to develop a work scheduling system that responds to priorities and daily requirements.
Responsible for proper design and industrialization of all production tools (extrusion and molds) to meet or exceed internal and external specifications.
Assist Platform Management to proper DFM principles to ensure safe and efficient operation of all Pre-Series and Production tools (extrusion and molds)
Establishes effective lines of communication and feedback with manufacturing supervisors, and quality, to ensure prompt attention and resolution of conditions that adversely affect quality or output.
Assists the engineering department in regard to product redesign to resolve product or production difficulties.
Develop and implements tooling processes that meet quality standards to product quality products acceptable to the customer.
Defines, develops, documents and implements production tooling processes for all customer platforms, including all requirements for PPAP approval and run at rates.
Strives to develop and recommend solutions to continuously improve existing production processes.
Maintains adherence to company policies, safety standards and good housekeeping practices.
Participates in training sessions, seminars and continuing education to stay abreast of new technical developments.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assumes other special activities and responsibilities as required or directed.
Assures that a positive employee relations’ position is maintained. Ensures that the company’s management principals, policies and programs are consistently practiced.
Assures that effective communications are maintained within area of responsibility.
Ensures optimum performance of the function. Recommends and implements techniques to improve productivity, increase efficiencies, cut costs, take advantage of opportunities and maintain state-of-the-art practices.
Has the authority to stop production, if necessary, to correct quality problems.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
B.S. Degree in Engineering or equivalent preferred.
Completion of formal apprenticeship program preferred.
Sound knowledge of rubber extrusion process, engineering theory and design criteria preferred.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent organization skills required
Proven proficiencies in process documentation is essential
