We have a Mechanical Design Engineer position with an early stage, entrepreneurial technology-oriented organization, recognized as a pioneer of ultra reliable, utility scale, inverter-less solar power systems.

In this role, you will lead the mechanical design and development activities
for product development projects, and be responsible for creating detailed product design specifications to meet our customer requirements. Additionally, you will collaborate with other team members to effectively implement design concepts and technical plans and to construct and evaluate prototypes to meet design specifications.

Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

* Lead troubleshooting activities of design issues
* Perform tolerance analysis of designs and stack-up analysis
* Conduct technical design reviews and presentations;
* Create design verification and validation plans
* Design fixtures for testing
* Direct relevant testing to meet functional and reliability requirements
* Write detailed protocols and reports

What you need for this position:

* Bachelors Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering, Material Science or related field
* At least 5-years industry experience in outdoor, high temperature, polymer or composite electrical equipment enclosures
* Experienced in use of FDM rapid prototyping
* Hands-on experience working with suppliers of sheetmetal, injected plastics and other materials to develop and execute on tooling
* Good understanding of statistics: DOE, Gage R&R, capability analysis, confidence
intervals
* Good documentation skills - technical plan and report writing
* Experience with process/product development; tooling design, automation concepts, and machine specifications
* Good verbal presentation skills and excellent interpersonal skills
* Demonstrated experience in successful management of multiple, simultaneous projects
* Start-up company experience or comparable experience is essential

A big plus:

* Cross functional experience, such as experience in engineering, construction/installation, field services and support
* Experience in weather proof mechanical enclosures for photovoltaic system electronics
* General experience in the solar industry
