Director of Engineering - Machine Builder
We are a world recognized Machine Builder and are adding to our management team. Our Director of Engineering position is critical to our continue success. Below is the outline of the position.
The Director of Engineering provides technical leadership to engineering managers and project teams responsible for the design of high performance production lines for spinning, flow forming, sheet metal forming and welding systems. Our Director of Engineering;
Directs department of several dozen engineers and technical professionals to ensure engineering support is provided to customers, sales, project managers, manufacturing and international facilities.
Oversees the preparation of engineering time and cost budgets for equipment projects and manages actual expenditures to ensure timely completion within the estimated amount.
Evaluates, advises general management of opportunities, and implements new state-of-the art technologies as applicable for product improvement, cost reduction and new product development.
Provides the technical leadership for Voice of Customer programs and works directly with the engineering staff and these groups to stay close with our customers. Domestic and international travel is required.
Our Director of Engineering requires the following background to be considered for the role;
BS in Engineering (BSME and MS in Engineering preferred) plus at least ten years additional technical and managerial experience with manufacturer of heavy-duty machinery or other complex electromechanical systems is required.
Extensive exposure to mechanical machine design and basic knowledge of controls (electrical/electronic/ hydraulic/pneumatic).
Prior CAD and FEA user experience.
Demonstrated skills at leading, mentoring and motivating people, hands-on engineering capability, factory-floor project management expertise, and communications effectiveness both internally and with customers and suppliers will be key to successful performance in this position.
Proven track record in organizing and working with engineering organizations. (India and China coordination is an asset for the person in this position.)
