Must be currently living and selling into a client base in the DC metro area.

About the opportunity: Our client, a large national specialty mechanical construction and service company, is seeking a commercial mechanical / HVAC Project Manager for their Washington DC metro office. Over 100 years ago, our client was providing mechanical and sheet metal services to a small but rapidly growing customer base. Today, this firm has grown to be over $350 million revenues with operations in 11 states. A national mechanical contractor, this respected firm is consistently ranked among the nations largest in Engineering News Records (ENRs) annual list of Top Specialty Contractors. The Energy Solutions group provides professional engineering services which economically reduce energy consumption, including energy engineering, designing and supporting energy retrofits, and conducting building energy audits.

About the position: This is a pure, client facing role (e.g. you are not expected to manage the projects you sell, although you will be able to maintain your client relationship). Instead you will leverage the technical support resources of in-house expertise to assist with proposals, energy payback calculations and construction / installation estimates. Dedicated project managers will be assigned to deliver services sold. You will also have support from the design side: we have outstanding mechanical design engineers. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to build out a dedicated profit center in the Baltimore Washington metro area, and to benefit from best practices and lessons learned from rolling out a similar program in other regions.

As a sales exec within the energy solutions team, you will bring a proven track record of experience -- obtaining new business through energy solutions and energy services sales including experience performing most or all of the following responsibilities
Developing leads and prospects as part of a full lifecycle sales discipline
Sufficient understanding of marketplace/territory to strategically penetrate target accounts
Successfully identify prospective opportunities, and effectively communicate value of energy services solutions, including:
o Understanding prospective clients operation, business, structure, deficiencies and requirements
o Building partnerships at the executive level with the decision maker and influencers, including the ultimate buyer
o Communicating full scope of energy solutions capabilities as they apply to the customer goals and objectives, while differentiating our solutions
Effectively engaging appropriate engineering resources in the development of an opportunity and determination of energy savings
Developing RFP/RFQ opportunities;
Successfully negotiate and obtain client commitment through sale closing
Keeping an ongoing active pipeline of sales opportunities while maintaining and managing ongoing relationships with new and existing customers
Coordinating the project team efforts from qualification through completion of project, including meeting / exceeding customer expectations

In addition to a proven track record of experience performing the responsibilities outlined above, successful candidates will have the following minimum required qualifications and experience
Undergraduate degree in a business or engineering discipline (BSME preferred)
Ability to succeed in B2B field sales in the energy industry
Technical knowledge of building systems, energy solutions or related experience
Strong communication and presentation skills
Strong interpersonal effectiveness, teaming and client relationship management skills,
Excellent organization and communication skills, both oral and written
Proficient in use of Microsoft Word, Excel and

Target Profile: Successful candidates is likely to have previously sold similar solutions while employed by -- Energy Services Companies (ESCOs) e.g. PEPCO, Constellation Energy, etc.
