Founded in 1989, engineering.com">Power Engineering, "PE," is a professional engineering services company located in Irvine, CA. We provide our Client’s with a range of services pertaining to failure analysis or upgrading of large rotating apparatus.
The equipment analyzed typically is used in central electric power generating stations, propulsion systems in naval ships, hoists, conveyors, mill drives, and drag line used in mining systems, pumps, compressors and power generation used in petroleum production, natural gas or hydrocarbon pipelines and refining.
PE has a global reputation for our ability to identify, analyze and provide actionable solutions to our Clients' machinery failures, upgrades and rehabilitation projects.
With an increasing number of projects on the horizon, we are looking to expand our engineering team. Specifically, we are seeking a full-time Mechanical Engineer; a person with diverse skills and experience, and who is willing to travel throughout the United States and abroad, to support the Director of Engineering.
A strong candidate will be diligent, eager to take on new challenges and meet the following criteria.
Education
BS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering and emphasis on machine design and/or vibration and modal analysis of structures.
Experience
5 years of relevant engineering experience and field work.
Knowledge
Digital test and/or data acquisition and signal processing using LabVIEW or MathLab.
SolidWorks, COSMOS, LabVIEW or ASME GDTP (Y14.5) “Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance Professional" certifications would be looked at favorably.
Skills and Abilities/Competencies
Technical knowledge, with hands-on field experience, troubleshooting machines and systems.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to express complex technical concepts clearly and concisely for final reports submitted to Clients.
Operate common machine shop tools, such as: lathes, mills, welding machines, and drill press etc.
Strong analytical, problem-solving and conceptual skills.
Can multi-task and enjoys working on time-sensitive projects.
General
Authorized to work in the United States
Valid U.S. driver’s license and passport.
Capable of lifting at least 50 pounds.
Able to receive DOD and Corporate Security Clearances.
Fluent in English with knowledge of a second language such as: Spanish, Portuguese, French, or German would be a plus.
