Location: Washington DC metro area (LOCAL candidates ONLY, please.) Must be currently living and working in as a mechanical engineering PM in the DC metro area.
About the opportunity: Our client, a large national specialty mechanical construction and service company, is seeking a commercial mechanical / HVAC Project Manager for their Washington DC metro office. Over 100 years ago, our client was providing mechanical and sheet metal services to a small but rapidly growing customer base. Today, this firm has grown to be over $350 million revenues. A national mechanical contractor, this respected firm is consistently ranked among the nations largest in Engineering News Records (ENRs) list of Top Specialty Contractors.
About the position: This is a newly created position due to sustained growth for our clients mechanical engineering and design build expertise. The successful candidate will have end to end P&L responsibility for a handful of key accounts key clients for whom s/he will be responsible for client satisfaction and profitable growth. Were looking for someone with the full scope of project management responsibilities e.g. pricing, bidding, planning, coordinating, executing, maintaining and managing an successful construction project. You will have a proven track record of success leading projects, and making effective use of the appropriate resources (engineering, labor, equipment, materials, tools and subcontractors) as needed. Youll have demonstrated consistent success in managing key client relationships and ensuring satisfaction, while ensuring successful completion of each projects scope of contracted work, on time and on budget.
If the above sounds like you, and you have a proven track record of experience performing the following responsibilities, we would like to hear from you: * Developing and tracking a project schedule including trade and labor loading for each project * Establishing project cost control centers for tracking equipment, labor, materials, subs, etc. * Estimating and purchasing equipment * Directing the various trades in the development of shop drawings and coordinate the planning effort across all trades * Developing the piping, plumbing and/or sheet metal construction standards for each project * Selecting and managing project subs * Inspecting the jobsite on a regular basis for contract compliance, workmanship, and safety * Estimating and negotiating any change orders, and following up on any warranty work * Maintaining ongoing contact with owner and ensure highest customer satisfaction In addition to a proven track record of experience performing the responsibilities outlined above, successful candidates will have the following minimum required qualifications and experience * Demonstrated mechanical aptitude (BSME or PE a plus, but NOT required) * 5-7 years experience managing projects of $200K to $2M in size (mechanical revenues) e.g. o commercial HVAC mechanical piping, plumbing and sheet metal o Design Build Commercial Mechanical construction * Strong interpersonal effectiveness, teaming and client relationship management skills, e.g. * Excellent organization and communication skills, both oral and written * Proficient in use of Microsoft Word and Excel (SureTrak a plus, but NOT required)
Target Profile: Successful candidates is likely to have worked * for a regional mechanical engineering firm (e.g. AMF Mechanical, CCG Facilities Integration, Heffron Company, Kirlin, Smith Mechanical, Welch and Rushe) or * on local projects for a national mechanical contractor (or mechanical division of a global engineering construction firm (e.g. Bechtel, Emcor, Fluor Hill Mechanical, Jacobs Engineering, Limbach, McKinstry, Southland Industries, TD Industries, URS, Vanderweil)
