DescriptionCOMPANY: This is a well funded domestic start-up developing innovative scalable greentech energy storage systems. This is a ground floor opportunity to contribute your theoretical mechanical engineering design skills including thermodynamics, CFD and mathematical modeling in challenging technical projects that will have a significant positive impact on global warming in what is projected to be a $100 Billion market. You will be working with a small group of highly intelligent physicists and engineers working on practical problems for commercial products. They are currently located in Oakland, CA in the beautiful San Francisco Bay area.
DUTIES: This person will report to the V.P. Engineering and will be responsible for contributing to the group their skills and abilities in the areas of computational fluid dynamics, theoretical design and mathematical modeling to model complex thermodynamic systems and experimental verification of mathematical models. This person must have experience working with multiphase (gas/fluid) flows. This person will be working on the cooling system from air compressors used in Isothermic Compression for Energy Storage. This person will be working with a team of highly intelligent physicists, electrical and mechanical engineers through their design development, prototyping and subsequent manufacturing processes.
REQUIREMENTS: This person will have their PhD in Mechanical Engineering with an emphasis in computational fluid dynamics and Must Have siginificant experience with Multiphase Flow. They will have a miminum of 3 years of hands on industry experience working with theoretical design, mathematical modeling, thermodynamics and work experience should include significant knowledge of heat transfer; hydraulic or pneumatic systems; nozzles and sprays and a fundamental understanding of how to cool air compressors or reciprocating engines. This person should also rate their knowledge high with the workings of piston driven compressor or reciprocating engines including the pistons, seals, valves, and lubircants. This individual will be inventive, highly creative and innovative they will be able to apply the knowledge they are acquired in their current position to what the company needs - they will be self-motivated and able to work effectively with a highly skilled team. They will possess good communication and presentation skills as well as being very computer literate. The ideal candidate will have published tehcnical papers that illustrate their knowledge of engine or compressor design, development and simulation. They will also ideally be working with engine, compressor, pump or refrigeration system type companies.
